President-elect Benigno Simeon Noynoy Aquino 3rd and his sisters visited the tombs of their parents -- former President Corazon C. Aquino and former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. -- at the Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque City on Sunday.

His youngest sister, Kris Aquino-Yap, led in praying the Holy Rosary, together with other sisters Ballsy, Pinky and Viel.

The incoming President and his sisters were surprised when they saw flowers from the office of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at the Aquino mausoleum. They learned that the flowers were delivered on Saturday on the occasion of the celebration of the 112th Philippine Independence Day.

Aquino told reporters that he is seeking the guidance of his parents before facing the challenges of being the 15th President. He is taking his oath of office on June 30 before Supreme Court Associate Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales.

He also confirmed that Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director-General Jesus Verzosa will stay until his retirement while he has not chosen who will replace Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Delfin Bangit.

Aquino declined to confirm if he will designate outgoing Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo, who is a Ramon Magsaysay awardee, as secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). Incoming Vice President Jejomar Binay wants the DILG post.
